Mathematics & Computational Cognition Research
This independent research study examines relationships between mathematical learning, executive functioning, and autistic cognitive profiles. The goal is to better understand patterns of strengths and challenges in mathematics in order to inform more precise and humane instructional approaches.
Study Overview
Participation in this study includes educational assessment focused on mathematical learning. Families who participate receive a comprehensive educational assessment report outlining learning patterns, strengths, challenges, and instructional considerations.
This study is conducted as independent research and is not affiliated with a post-secondary institution.
Inclusion Criteria
- Child or adolescent betwee the ages 12-18
- Formal diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder
- Identified difficulties with mathematics learning
- Average or above-average cognitive ability
Exclusion Criteria
- Identified intellectual disability
- Significant uncorrected sensory impairments
- Current participation in a conflicting research study
